I am on a "seafood" diet - I see food and I eat it!

I've been trying to lose weight in great anticipation of the summer. I am hopeful that losing a couple of pounds will keep me from having my normal pre-summer meltdown in the dressing room as I suddenly realize I must wear shorts or melt and all my jiggly bits would look much better in the bathing suit rather than hanging out of it.  I have managed to lose 7 pounds with sheer determination, an iron will and what feels like quite a bit of starvation - okay, so maybe I am not really starving - but compared to all sitting down fried green tomatoes and Maryland Crab Cakes it might as well be.  I am determined and I shall prevail but man I could really use a crab cake. May a have a menu please?

I designed these too. What can I say, I was on a roll...'sides keeps me from eating :)

New Glory - Red, White and Blue

Just got around to peeking at  Anthropologie and was rewarded with this cuteness: A modern nod to red, white and blue! I love that this dress is so versatile. It can be worn easily and stylishly at Fourth of July and Memorial Day picnics and weddings!

I am not a fan of the necklace they feature with the dress. However, I do love the ode to the sailors knot. Very cute! Check this one from Kara Ross for Saks.

If you need something more delicate I absolutely love this textured matte gold knot pendant at Dejarnette and at $60.00 it's a steal!

Sometimes a bare neck is the sexiest look there is but you need earrings to really draw attention to that long lovely neck and perhaps a really good push up bra. These earrings are absolutely perfect for that red, white and blue as is all the handmade jewelry over at AncaNY .

Love this vintage scarf as an accessory! Tied around the head for a casual chic look or around the neck for that Audrey Hepburn vibe. You can  find it on Etsy at UnderCapricorn.

Love this simple gold braid hair accessorie from Jennifer Behr at fengjunk.

And last but not least a little arm candy.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle - What that old bag?

I love it when old things find new purpose. I especially love it when one mans junk becomes another mans treasure.  Burlap is often used to form storage bags for grains, potatoes and coffee. Who knew a feed sack could be this cute!

Organize in style. You can get this rustic chic organizer at Pottery Barn beginning May 17.

I've got a thing for typography and silhouettes so when I found these burlap tote bags I was smitten! Love the Handmade Burlap Bags with Vintage French Graphics or the Heavy Canvas Bags with His and Hers silhouettes from Mothology.

I have a real thing for monograms. It's a disease, what can I say? This Monogrammed Burlap Bag from Orientexpressed is only $24.00. I think I have found my new summer beach tote!

Did I mention junk to treasure? Look at these beauties I found at Tatertotsandjello. A feed sack I think not. You can make these fabulous Burlap Bracelets yourself.

And if you think burlap cannot possibly be more beautiful then check what Giannetti Home at Velvet and Linen did with this bedroom suite.

Above: headboards are covered with yep, you guessed it burlap. The tutffed ottoman below is my favorite!

Don't think you want to take on that much DIY? Get these fabulous throw pillows to add to your home collection at Cute Pink Stuff. Love the ruffles!

Feeling crafty? You can make your own Burlap Cafe Pillows with this tutorial from Sew Dang Cute. Aren't they though?

And just in case you don't think this versatile fabric can't work anywhere but at home. Look at what happens when you throw a bit of burlap into your wedding.

Consider Personalized Burlap Bags filled with Coffee Beans as Wedding Favors from BlissWeddingsMarket.com. Stylish and as someone who loves coffee - a delicious treat!

Perhaps, these beautiful  Burlap Napkins Rings made from dollar store goodies for your head table? Seriously, the dollar store. I swear!

Or burlap cuff bracelets with satin roses for your bridesmaids. So rustic and elegant! I know you're shocked and need them desperately. Check out the great DIY Tutorials at tatertotsandjello.

Love this Custom Ring Pillow made from velvet and burlap with a custom monogram button from Etsy seller TheBloomingSouth. Absolutely the most beautiful stuff I have ever seen. And last but not least. A little inspiration from yours trully:

Initially Yours - Monograms and Mayhem

I've lost my keys yet again...it's an on going trauma and I am convinced if my husband would just buy me a pretty monogrammed key ring I would NEVER lose my keys again. I know I could buy one for myself but somehow IF he buys it that would be make it EXTRA special and therefore immune to becoming lost. He won't do it. So my keys are gone. I decided I will have to buy my own monogrammed key chain so I started my search with monograms on my new favorite find Notonthehighstreet.com. It's like Etsy but in England. I am totally hooked!!  So look at what I found:

Oh gosh...I needed a snack and guess what...I found my keys! In the pantry, next to the peanut butter but I still think I need one of those charming monogrammed goodies to keep me, my life and my keys in order. So I will...

Today's just one of those days...

Yeah me too.

Modern Prep - Pretty in Pink

When I was in high school, PREPPY was in. I mean pink polos, dock shoes, khaki, argyle, plaid, and a monogram on everything. I haven't thought about those days in years but a recent clip commerating the passing of John Hughes brought it all back. And you know what? I’m not ashamed to say it, I still know all the words to every single John Hughes movie and I STILL love that classic preppy look. I can not walk past a madras print, or a plaid without a pause and I still have a monogram on everything. So just so you don't think a preppy wedding always means nautical and that oh so pretty blue. I say..."pretty in pink anyone? Go ahead think outside the knot.

Spell it out - 10 signs your in love

My mother used to always say..."say what you mean, mean what you say." How apt is that for this post on unique, vintage and handmade expressions of love:
