Reboot. Rebrand. Rebirth.

There are three things I love in life, my family, good coffee and pretty paper. But I have to be honest with you, lately I have been having a really hard time keeping up with them all. Trying to balance between my kids, my marriage and my business... not to mention some semblance of a social life. It's been really hard and well, I am kinda falling down on the job over here. So after considerable thought, maybe some hair pulling, okay a lot of hair pulling, and a little teeth gnashing,  I decided that in order to survive and truly thrive some things were going to need to change.

First change is the end of this blog. Let's face it. Blogging is hard work and well... I am just not all that good with it. Second change well... head on over to That Girl Press and see for yourself.

The University Iowa scores another one!

Recently my sister-in-law asked me to create graduation announcements for my nephew. I of course was honored. Made me sad too. So hard to imagine this little guy all grown up and headed off to college. He's following his brother to University of Iowa so there is some hidden humour in the announcement and of course a Hawkeye!

West Elm and Minted

I've been itching to try my hand at photography and the latest opportunity over at Minted was the perfect chance. Check out my art prints Clouded in Mystery  and Branchin Out styled with some West Elm goodies.

Southern boys wear bow ties

Is is just me or does something about gingham make you think CUTE? Perhaps it's my Southern roots but show me a gingham bow tie and it conjures images of slightly fidgety, bordering on unruly but incredibly cute boys. Big ones and little one and most definitely Southern ones. So when I found these stupendously awesome classic gingham bow ties from The Cordial Churchman  -- I thought, I know what somebodies wearing for Easter. Sadly the youngest has flat out refused but the eldest rocked his last weekend for a school function. I won't lie, I was one proud momma.

Design Sneak Peak: Seaside

I am tired of waiting for summer so I created a little piece of my own. Introducing my newest wedding suite Seaside.

Hello beautiful

My first bride to baby experience! Loved them as a bride and groom and so honored they came back to me to share their little one with the world.

Txtng and drvng = no

So it finally happened. I drove and caved into the unfathomable notion that I could text while driving too. Now for the average person, that's toying with danger. For anyone who knows me and my driving skills, that's like lighting a match in room full of gas. It's going to blow in your face and its not going to pretty. Thankfully I DID avoid creaming the car in front of me but it was close--really close --and by the single digit consideration I got from the driver he saw what I was doing and didnt like it one bit. Sigh. So not cool. Know what is cool? The graphic inspiration from Fiat's Don't Text and Drive Campaign to not ever do it again!

Books I've Read

Just finished The Good Son by Michael Gruber. I found it in the $1 store of all places so imagine my suprise when I read that Stephen King listed it as one of his top reads of 2012. Lemme tell ya. It's worth the $1.00 I spent and a whole lot more. Highly recommend this one.

Not your average dress

balloon dresses by rie hosokai and takashi kawada

Yes, a dress made of balloons. Japanese artist Rie Hosokai of daisy balloon builds elaborate dresses by custom 'knitting' white balloons to gradually build a fragile but totally wearable frock. Not for everyone but still very, very cool.

Up Up and Away

Happy Belated New Year! I know. I know! I meant to do this great send up of 2012 but well... I hung out with my family, ate too much of my mother in laws fantastic cooking and drank alot of vino instead. Trust me. It was way better for both of us.

So here's hoping 2013 is filled with all the things you love, everything you hope for and none of the stuff you hated about 2012.
