Humour Me: Does a Peach Martini go with these shoes?

Just bought two things. A pair of spicy orange sandals from Sam Edelman  and a whole crate of peachs. Both just look so perfect nestled in their respective boxes. All I can think of is "Wow, such a sweet, sultry, swan song to summer"! Mr. Wonderful thought the sandals were great but not so thrilled with the two tons of peaches from the market. So I started thinking and umm... me thinks... peach martinis might just go perfectly with my shoes.

  • slices ripe white peach
  • slices fresh hot chile (try a red or green jalapeño or a Thai chile)
  • kosher salt
  • 1-2 teaspoons dry vermouth
  • 1 1/2 cups top-quality gin or vodka

Preparation

Fill six martini glasses with ice, then water; let stand until glasses are very cold, about 5 minutes (or chill them, empty, in the freezer). Meanwhile, for each drink, push 1 or 2 slices ripe white peach and 1 slice fresh hot chile (try a red or green jalapeño or a Thai chile) onto a small skewer or toothpick. Sprinkle peaches lightly with kosher salt. Empty glasses and pour 1 to 2 teaspoons dry vermouth into each. Swirl to coat glass, then pour off and discard most of the vermouth. Fill a 3-cup martini shaker with ice cubes and add 1 1/2 cups top-quality gin or vodka. Seal and shake until cold, 4 to 6 times. Strain into glasses. Garnish each with a peach-chile skewer.

Enjoy!

Client Highlight: Aly

Aly came to me with invites in hand and wanted a menu to match. She had these beautiful invites from Printable Press featuring vintage florals, banner and swallows.

Aly tasked me with creating menus that complimented her invites but she also wanted to add the twist of a thank you note on the reverse side. To create the menu I used vintage swallow images, a gorgeous floral motif and added a vintage banner. For the thank you I brought in some hand lettering and vintage looking fonts to keep the look in line with the both the menu and her original invites.

Voila!

Inspired Paper: The Art of Hand Written Letters

Oh how I love it when I stumble upon oh so very pretty paper and folks who champion it. Did you know there is a Letter Writers Alliacnce? Well there is!

The Letter Writers Alliance is a member based organization dedicated to keeping the art of letter writing alive started in the Summer of 2007 by Kathy Zadrozny and Donovan Beeson. I found the Donovan Beesons Letter Writers Alliance Flicker Pool and fell head over heels.  Check out these amazing hand written letters!

Seriously. Who wouldnt want to get these in the mail? Simply beautiful!

I have a thing for vintage typewriters so I love this one! And the hand lettering is so perfectly gorgeous I want to run out to my mailbox and hope this gets sent to me too!

A text is a moment in time. A letter can be forever...just saying. ;)

Client Highlight: Laura

Laura came to me with a mission. She had just sent "Harper" a gorgeous letterpress invitation from my uber fav Bella Figura and wanted to know could I create coordinating pieces that were similar in style but weren't "copies" of her invites.

She wanted to keep the crosshatching from the original and same modern fonts but we revised the frame  on the menus so that it still had  the same feel but created a new look for her reception. We kept the circle frame for her wedding fans but removed the crosshatching. Each a compliment to her invitations but different.

We followed up with custom escort cards using the frame and logo and these cute tags for flip flops signs which were a huge hit on the beach. Table numbers were clean and simple to compliment here striped linens and custom intineraries were designed to keep her out of town guests on time and in the loop.
